Six Gun For Hire is an Old West Reenactment Group located in Central Nebraska half way between Grand Island and Old Fort Kearney.
Located in this geographical area, rich in history we can be any where in the State in short order.

We take great pride and enjoyment in performing Historical Old West reenactments of events that formed and founded this Nation.
The number one requirement for our actors is a love for history, a deep desire to educate the people of today of our heritage from the past, keeping it for the future.

It was a hard time to live, and required a hard people both in men and women, a time where folks said, "There's no God west of ST. Louis and no law west of Fort Smith".

Through in-depth searching we labor to research actual historical events as they happened, and to bring the true factual history to life down to the very words spoken where possible.
We research the language of the old west, (stopping short of profanity) the slang that was common and the meaning of words we no longer use.

The comical, the serious, and even the deadly times, a time when being a professional gambler was considered an honorable way to make a living.
Cowboys were looked down on as riffraff and troublemakers, when respect for a woman was not just expected, but demanded by everyone.

A time when asking a man where he came from or what he did for a living in the past was considered a no-no, you took a man for what he was now, not what he had been.
Many an outlaw became lawmen in other parts of the country as did lawmen turn outlaw, it was a time when "God made man, and Sam Colt made em' equal", many a man of small stature was just as big as any other man, with a six shooter on his hip.
Contrary to Hollywood where the lawman was left to face the bad guys alone while the town folk hid behind locked doors and peeked out drape covered windows, most men in a town would gather in Vigilantly or Regulator groups and take care of the outlaw them self's. Many an outlaw were hanged by these groups where the only law was a sheriff with to few deputies or a Marshal with to much territory to cover, there the citizenry made the law, and not always by the book.

So come along with us to those Old West day's when the gun was used to arbitrate an argument between two sides, and it was all to often final for one side or the other.
